Brentwood to add more DUI checkpoints

BRENTWOOD — The Brentwood Police Department is part of a statewide initiative to beef up driving under the influence enforcement as the summer ends from Aug. 16 through Sept. 2.

To provide additional DUI checkpoints, Brentwood Police’s traffic unit will conduct a DUI/drivers’ license checkpoint from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Aug. 16.

The checkpoint will take place on Sand Creek Road near Highland Way. Specially trained police officers will operate the checkpoint that evening.

The grant funding of this checkpoint came from the California Office of Traffic Safety and through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
