DUI checkpoints under question


Some say sheriff’s dept. policy unfairly targets undocumented workers. The program, funded by federal dollars and dispersed through the state Office of Traffic and Safety, has enabled sheriffs to increase DUI arrests from 2012. But the majority of the arrests under the program have come not for drunk driving but for driving without a license.
